The term cloud refers to the services and software that run on the Internet as opposed to that of a standard computer in which services and software can be run locally without the need of Internet. However, most all vendors are designing and building their software into apps that are Internet based thus explaining the move to Chrome OS devices such as Chromebooks and Chromebases.
